My War Position

To answer PeteySweety’s  questions posed here on GMD: I consider both actions in Iraq and Afghanistan to be illegal and the initiators and perpetrators to be war criminals. That includes the Obama administration. How to influence national policy? Find someone to file criminal charges against our congressional delegation to get them out of office. To help our Guard I would get Peter Shumlin to raise money to bring them home for Labor Day, confiscate half the money so they could not get back and lead a coalition of the willing(guardsmen and women) to Vt. Yankee and shut it down.

Jobs to Kill (for)

Thank you Pat Leahy for your efforts to obtain war related jobs for Vermont. We do need to provide the best possible equipment for our warriors and heroes so they can be effective in killing civilians and destroying infrastructure. But not a questioning  peep from the Vermont media or elected politicians regarding this issue or the rosy picture Douglas presented of the Afghanistan war, a picture provided by the generals.

I am opposed to basing any part of Vermont’s economy on war related industries and support only life affirming and life sustaining employment.

Driving in Circles

What can be more wasteful of fossil fuels and more polluting than the totally frivolous racing at thunder road? It pollutes the air, it infringes on the peace and quiet of many near and not so near residents and who knows what other detrimental effects it has?

So what is the solution?  Only electric cars should be allowed to drive round and round in circles. Or only vehicles using vegetable oil as fuel with noise reduction mufflers. Or the tax on fuel used in these modern day gladiator pits should be taxed at 1000%.

And Phil Scott wants to be Lt. Gov.

Yes, Vermont is the pristine environmentally pure state.

End Politics As Usual

It is way past time to put the two party system out of its misery. Yes, even Vt. is a two party state. There really is no difference between the Progs(in their current incarnation) and the Democrats. Pollina says parties do not matter and abandons the Progs–twice. Martha Abbot will defer to a Democratic candidate she likes. On the national level the party to end the war has not and has essentially maintained the corporate agenda. In Vermont the legislature cut services to those most in need and refused to raise taxes on the rich. And then they budgeted $300,000 to study health care reform instead of crafting a single payer socialized system. Vermont Yankee should have been shut down–NOW. The democrats and Progs had a veto proof majority.

So I urge you to vote insurgent, independent, and minor party candidates and abandon the status quo so change can happen.
