Washington DC March to Restore Sanity

( – promoted by Jack McCullough)

Jon Stewart’s March to Restore Sanity on Oct 30 to combat Fox News nonsense sounds like fun

I’m trying to rent a bus to leave Montpelier on 1029 at 6:00PM, go to DC and return starting at 6:00Pm on 10/30.  Similar to Obama inauguration trip.  I don’t know the cost yet, and it will depend on how many want to go.

If anyone is interested, please let me know and I’ll send particulars:  kimcheney@myfairpoint.net

  1. Watching Jon these days is so depressing.  Sure the Obama administration isn’t doing all we want, and the President often seems clueless about how to be — and lead– Democrats.  But Jon keeps making false equivalencies typical of the MSM, carping because Obama went to a backyard barbecue, fawning over right-wing guests.  I’m baffled; it’s as though he’s lost his compass altogether. (What’s really strange to me is that he prefers to nitpick about small things the Dems are doing and is being fairly light-handed with the Executive power grabs and civil rights abuses that are really the dark side of this administration.) The current lack of sanity in the political arena really is pretty one-sided, and to pretend that both parties are acting equally paranoid and deranged is disingenuous.

Now COLBERT’S rally — THAT looks like some fun!

The great part of all this is that both these rallies are forcing the MSM to pay some attention to Those That Do Not Party With The Tea — a large number of people there could be very helpful before the election.  And it’s really great of you to want to take a bus down — may there be enough people for SEVERAL buses, may you all have fun, and may the MSM be utterly confounded!

  2.  From Bill Maher’s New Rules segment

But when it comes to voting, when we only have two choices, you’ve got to grow up and realize there’s a big difference between a disappointing friend and a deadly enemy. Of course the Democrats are disappointing. That’s what makes them Democrats. If they were any more frustrating they’d be your relatives.

But in this country they are all that stands between you and darkest night. You know why their symbol is the letter “D”? Because it’s a grade that means good enough, but just barely.

You know why the Republican symbol is “R”? Because it’s the noise a pirate makes when he robs you and feeds you to a shark.

  3. …that’s GOTV weekend.  I admit, while I love the march in concept, I think Stewart could’ve picked a better weekend.  Really, if he wants sanity, he could rally the troops a bit earlier and told them to hit the streets for good candidates.

    And I hope this isn’t just a one-off.  Without follow-up, it’s a pretty useless circle jerk.

  4. the tea-baggers are batshit crazy, and wear their arrogant, boisterous, belligerent stupid beckistani-seanhannity insanity like a Medal of Honor.

But Colbert has the right idea.

    Mock the morons.

I’m going to that one.  I’ll email you for particulars…

  5. My wife and I made our reservations a couple of weeks ago.  We should all be grateful that there are TV personalities willing to cut through the crap generated by the GOP and Fox (News?) and that Jon Stewart can criticize even a President he supports.  Not only is it his job, behind it there is an overriding principle: in a democracy, it is our duty to evaluate political friends and foes alike.
