Impeachment PS: Online Petition and Progressives

by: odum

Tue Mar 28, 2006 at 07:47:58 AM EST

As a quick PS to Jack's update on the local County impeachment resolutions just below. First, reports are that the Windham County Progressive Party committee will be considering the Rutland Resolution at their next meeting. Also: there may be Legislation stirring (more on that as it comes out).

Finally, supporters make their press full court and have started a Rutland Resolution petition being circulated by hand and online, petitioning the Vermont Legislature (as per the Vermont Constitution Chapter I Article 20) to take up the matter. The petition is being circulated across the Democracy for Vermont network. It's developing an aura of inevitability, folks! You can sign the online petition here.

Thanks for the heads up you comment posted on 802 Online (0.00 / 0)
As I am not a regular reader of the GMD for various reasons, I appreciate the heads up you comment posted on 802 Online (here)  concerning the petition odum. Thank you.

In fact I have blogged up a mention and link to it on my blog as well, here (via Norsehorse's Home Turf).

One thing that needs pointing out is that this has nothing to do with one being either liberal or conservative however or, at least it need not be.

Truth be told, I am neither and at the same time I am both. Yet this Independent-minded Yankee voter has no problem whatsoever signing onto the petition in question, especially with my having been a Nader voter in 2000 and 2004, etc. The exact same voter who may also end up casting my vote for Martha Rainville for U.S. Senate in the 2006 general election, should she survive the Republican primary (should she not, then I will most likely write her in).

...and for the feedback.

Guess I need to work on a post to talk you into voting for Peter Welch soon!

I hope you'll look for it, as I'd love to get your feedback...

You're welcome ... (0.00 / 0)
..., and thanks odum.

You can try, especially for the sake of any readers of the blog who are yet undecided on whom to vote for in the U.S. House seat race, etc.

However, just so you know (although it is true I will wait to find out more once the actual campaign gets underway and the debates happen to make any final decision on whom to vote for), not only is my support for Martha Rainville fairly strong as well as solid, but there is no way whatsoever that I will Welsh on my ballot. :-) [smile]

That said, yes, I look forward to reading your post on the subject once you blog it up.

THANKS NADER VOTER (4.00 / 1)
Thanks Nader Voter.  Your independent minded Yankee spirit gave us George W. Bush.  Are you satisfied with your independence?

So, Vermont threw the election to Bush? (0.00 / 0)
It can be argued that Nader voters in some states could have affected the election (but that's also assuming that they would not have just stayed home instead of going to the polls), but a Nader vote in VT is a complete non-issue.  Vermont was a "safe" state in which to vote for Nader.

Not that I expect that your mind will be open enough for it, however just in case, try reading this opinion on the matter, here [via CounterPunch; April 5, 2006].

By the way, while I do not agree with your conclusions on the subject, concerning the pointed question you rhetorically posed: Yes, I am well satisfied by my independence as well as my exercising of it, especially as I have done absolutely nothing to be ashamed of by doing so.

Try it sometime, you if dare.

Thank you for asking.
