  1. and the simple honesty of the message.  Nothing slick, and no presumption that the governor will have the power to make rain without the consent and cooperation of the legislature.  It’s a message that I know instinctively I can trust.

I also liked your response in today’s FP to the question about “the first cut.”  Simple, direct and realistic.  I respond to that.

That isn’t to say that I don’t also like Matt’s ad and response to the same question; but they don’t resonate quite so strongly with me as I am skeptical that the solutions to all our problems lie just around the corner in the brave new world of IT technology.  And I believe our next governor should see the cup as already half-full, to be conserved and topped-off judiciously; and with no small measure of humility.

  2. I’ve made clear throughout the campaign that I oppose the wars and want to see a rearrangement of national priorities away from wasteful wars and towards health care, education, and rebuilding our infrastructure. I would do what I can as an elected official to speak out and to work with our Congressional delegation to call for an end to the wars. – Doug
