Brian Dubie, military man, hires campaign manager of anti-veterans/anti-military candidate....

...who lost in Virginia.

U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake defended her vote against expanded college benefits for veterans on Monday, saying she would not support legislation that President Bush has promised to veto...Her opponent in the November election, Democrat Glenn Nye, said Drake chose the wrong side.
"She has let down our service members," he said, adding it was "another example of Washington politics at its worst."

Obviously, the voters agreed with Nye, because he defeated incumbent Thelma Drake for reelection in VA-02 in the 2008 election.

More on the jump.

kestrel9000 :: Brian Dubie, military man, hires campaign manager of anti-veterans/anti-military candidate....
Now comes Brian Dubie, candidate for Governor of Vermont:

During college he joined the Vermont Air National Guard, where he flew the F-4 Phantom II and F-16 Fighting Falcon until 1998...In 1998, he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he is an Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer with the rank of colonel in the Air Forces Northern National Security Emergency Preparedness Directorate....His brother, Michael Dubie, is Adjutant General of the Vermont National Guard.

and has retained Corry Bliss as his campaign manager.

Corry Bliss, who managed the campaign of Thelma Drake, who was defeated by Democrat Glenn Nye for reelection to the House of Representatives in large part because she chose politics and partisanship over the needs of veterans, military personnel and their families.
And the voters of VA-02 saw right through that and sent Bliss' incumbent candidate packing in 2008, electing Democrat Glenn Nye.

What is inexplicable is why Brian Dubie would hire a campaign manager who ran a campaign of that sort, and lost, arguably, for that very reason chief among others.

It does, however, lend weight to the speculation that, despite the best efforts of Jim Douglas, a Dubie candidacy makes Vermont Republicans very, very nervous.

Dubie = Jobs for Virginians? (4.00 / 4)
I don't know if that has the right ring to it....But, seriously, he couldn't find a Vermonter for the job? That should tell us something.

Words without action are the ruin of the soul.

It is yet another point (0.00 / 0)
that speaks ill of Dubie's judgment.

"That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State ..."- Vermont Constitution Chapter 1, Article 16

Dubie going with the national GOP meme... (4.00 / 1)
The GOP is going to throw the "Vermont Way" right out the window in this election.   (Actually, Does-less already has, his silly-face Wilbur Milquetoast persona provides the right amount of cognitive dissonance for the majority not to notice what an empty amoral suit he is.)

Dubie's gonna have an old fashioned GOP Silent Majority campaign like they do it in the rest of the US of A - lower taxes, gay-bash and gay-bait, flag-wave, gun-wave, bible-thump, and fear-monger.  Look at my flag lapel pin - and don't I look good in my AF uniform?

While 30 years in the reserves and the Guard and cleaning up after Katrina and 9/11 ain't usually what one thinks when one thinks "military experience", perhaps he can run on his experience to lead the cleanup on the inevitable VY disaster?

He needs a Virginian because the "Virginia Way" is uglier, and that's the way they're gonna do it here, macaca.

Moderate covering (4.00 / 1)
will hide your right-wing social views.Drake did lose but maybe Dubie is confused and thinks he bought someone that could make the strategy that worked for the new Republican Virginia Gov. work here in Vermont. Its all the buzz with in Republicans Virginia.

yup (0.00 / 1)
If George Allen had kept his Confederate-lovin' trap shut and hadn't had his macaca moment, there'd be no Senator James Webb, and perhaps Nobama> Learn to be racist, sexist, homophobic with a smily face, and you'll go far in today's GOP.  Dubie's got the bonafides.
