U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake defended her vote against expanded college benefits for veterans on Monday, saying she would not support legislation that President Bush has promised to veto...Her opponent in the November election, Democrat Glenn Nye, said Drake chose the wrong side.
"She has let down our service members," he said, adding it was "another example of Washington politics at its worst."
Obviously, the voters agreed with Nye, because he defeated incumbent Thelma Drake for reelection in VA-02 in the 2008 election.
Now comes Brian Dubie, candidate for Governor of Vermont:
During college he joined the Vermont Air National Guard, where he flew the F-4 Phantom II and F-16 Fighting Falcon until 1998...In 1998, he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he is an Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer with the rank of colonel in the Air Forces Northern National Security Emergency Preparedness Directorate....His brother, Michael Dubie, is Adjutant General of the Vermont National Guard.
and has retained Corry Bliss as his campaign manager.
Corry Bliss, who managed the campaign of Thelma Drake, who was defeated by Democrat Glenn Nye for reelection to the House of Representatives in large part because she chose politics and partisanship over the needs of veterans, military personnel and their families.
And the voters of VA-02 saw right through that and sent Bliss' incumbent candidate packing in 2008, electing Democrat Glenn Nye.
What is inexplicable is why Brian Dubie would hire a campaign manager who ran a campaign of that sort, and lost, arguably, for that very reason chief among others.
