is a valid reason to run a negative campaign. But I'd sweeten the pot and do a hard nosed comparison one:

Douglas is bad because [poor plans, lies, beating up on Vermont]; I'm what you need because [. . .]

Throw in a bunch of commercials that do nothing but go for Douglas' political jugular and his political fortunes would vanish.

Please, Please, do it:)  Find a politician you can work with and go for the jugular.  The Dems do not seem to get it.  This will take someone with vision and guts.  They lack both.  Go for it:)

when I pitched this idea to the Progressives I was told to bug off ... they were worried about offending people.

In my opinion they should spend more time worrying about what happens when nobody gets offended and Douglas gets two more years.

I'm ready to work for serious candidates ... depending upon the person, policies and other particulars of course.

Am afraid that if you want to work for serious candidates unafraid of offending someone, you will be unemployed for this campaign season, as probably every one after it too.  Am afraid that Douglas will be governor for another two years as well:(  But we should keep trying anyway.
