Now THAT'S more like it!!! (SNOW BLOGGING)

by: Caoimhin Laochdha

I like snow.

For the past decade, my neighborhood has been snow deprived, relatively speaking, to the first nine+ decades of the 20th century.

This past weekend was closer to what I expect Vermont to be in the winter.

Take a wintery look after the jump.

Here is the view from my porch Monday morning (yes that's 19").  This was the "left over" snow from Sunday's storm (followed by a couple hours of serious wind), as of 7:00 a.m.

Since Vermonters mostly talk about politics when we are fed up with talking about the weather, let me ask you this: how is your weather today? Take any good pictures of the storm.

Let it snow!

BTW, please don't tell my wife, but I forgot to store the deck table (see above) in the shed for the winter.

What about the winter of 2000-2001?  That was probably the best winter in recent memory, since the eighties anyway.  How many feet was that one?  Cannot remember.  Was working at a ski area then, though.  So many powder days:)

That was a really good one (0.00 / 0)
Lots of snowshoeing during the 2000-2001 winter.  Unfortunately, winters like that one, which were the norm when I was a kid, have been the noticeable exception over the last ten years.

Hopefully this winter will be a "code white" one to remember too.

Don't tell my wife, but I didn't get my grill in off the porch.....

Yes, winters like that have been rare for the last thirty or so years.  I can remember snowbanks almost ten feet high back before winter seemed to lose its steam.  But I do remember that 2000-01 winter as a great powder winter.  Fortunately, I had a free pass:)  The snowshoing is pretty good now and went telemarking at Bolton today -- $10 lift tickets -- and had a ball in the powder, though the legs are definitely hurting now:) We'll see.  But winters that usually start out fast, peter out quick.  But it is nice to see a winter again, especially in the face of last December, where you could almost go kayaking up it was so warm.

Oh, no.  Better get that grill in:)  It could be there for a while if you delay any longer, or else just fire it up outside:) Why not.
